Last week D-Link announced a new dual port 10GBASE-T PCI express network adapter card (DXE-820T). Each port on the DXE-820T supports 10 Gbps speeds at distances up to 100m (328 ft.) over CAT-6A (or better) LAN cabling, or up to 50m over lesser CAT-6 cabling. In addition, the DXE-820T is backward compatible with existing 1GbE networks, supporting 100/1000 Mbps speeds over CAT-5/5e cables to 100m distances.

This new PCI express network adapter is yet another example of D-Link’s continued investment in 10 Gigabit technology. Back in March we launched our new DXS-1210-12TC 10-Gigabit Smart Switch, which supports 8 Copper, 2 Fiber, and 2 Combo ports (all 10 Gigabit), and provides a nice compliment to this new DXE-820T network adapter card. In June we will begin shipping the DXS-1210-12SC, another Smart Switch supporting 10 Gigabit ports. At D-Link, we’re working hard to make 10 Gigabit technology affordable for networks of all sizes.
